Stone imports for the rest of the year and estimated to be similar to 2012. Italy exported 2 million tons in 2012 and a similar figure is expected for this year. The demand is solid and supply lines are good.
The same is not the case for granite and cheaper stone. The prices are up slightly and the supply lines are taking longer to deliver orders. This has happened a few times in the past 10 years with granite and it worked itself out.
More mines are opening up but some of the older ones are shutting down.
